Ipock Music

A Word from the Flute and Vocal Coach

The best way to introduce myself is to explain why I coach. I love to see a student’s face light up when they work hard and take joy in getting a piece perfect that first time. I feel my job is to show a student how, and enable them to reach their potential by small goals over a long time frame. Therefore my teaching is structured around each student’s learning level, experience and age. I teach once a week, on Saturdays. Prices are shown below:

Prepaid and Drop in Session Prices

  • Drop in Lessons-30 minute (12 hour notice, subject to availability) = $30
  • 1-30 minute lesson prescheduled each month = $25 (save $20 per month, based on the recommended 4 lessons in month)

We do not accept wire transfers, or out of town checks. Payments are accepted by cash, or a local check.

Missed Sessions

For life's unexpected surprises, call within 24 hours to cancel or reschedule. Here are the expectations for us both if something causes us to not give 24 hours notice for schedule changes:

  • Missed lessons without 24 hour notice are subject to the same fee as if the student were present (I get a lessons worth of compensation).
  • If I miss a lesson without giving you 24 hour notice, you get a free lesson (you get a lesson's worth of compensation).

The first lesson is free of charge with your coupon code, but is required to learn a bit more about each other and the instruments, or vocal placement. The student needs to bring themselves only (and the instrument if applicable) and any prior music studied, to begin. Payment arrangements are made from that point forward to avoid pressure, until everyone feels comfortable moving forward with lessons. I teach locally, in the Medford, Oregon (USA) area only. I began teaching individual lessons in 1989 in Germany, where I studied voice under Walter Reeves, who sang in the Opera. I have taught flute, sax and voice, and have played as a volunteer with the local college symphonic band. I love to see the satisfaction on a student’s face as they attain their goals. Just knowing that I was able to facilitate the process is my joy.

The skills learned during lessons can be valuable today and in the future, for the student. Each step is conquered with hard work and determination, as every one of my students embrace the power to excel. I believe my job is to present the tools, help the student to own and use them, and to encourage success and enjoyment in the journey.

I teach individual lessons because each student is unique. I tailor the lessons to the student’s learning styles, musical preferences, and goals. I some times move them into a piece of music outside their musical preference, with a goal that will assist them in their own preferred genre. I have coached adults and children for church worship teams, solo performances, audition preparations for television programs, and through national talent shows such as "America's Got Talent" and "Colgate Country Showdown." For more on national contests, see the talent show and events page.

Openings for availability are subject to change, so contact me today. I look forward to being a part of you or your child’s learning experience.

Thank You,
